iPhone - Twitter Blog
I'm pretty sure it was my father who retweeted someone who said that twitter was like blogging for lazy people.
Ever since I thought that I would actually write a blog post. However I never think about it while I'm on my laptop, and let's be honest... Typing a blog post on an iPhone would be ridiculous.
HOWEVER! I am currently doing that for you. So please disregard my typos... Or words that don't necessarily make sense in the sentence because auto-correction chose a completely different word from the one that you would have been able to guess if the typo had remained. Don't get me wrong, auto-correction does more good than bad ( for me at least ).
Ok, so what I came to talk about...
My bosses mentioned today that they would like to take the company into the direction of joining social media. (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, A blog? )
They mentioned that it might be something I could spearhead. Which is both super exciting and frightening. It's cool because I would love to see our company expand to meet all types of clientel. I imagine that there are many of our customers who - to them - we are just a faceless supplier of that one thing they always get from us. Perhaps they have no idea we do both print and promotional products. There are so many positives to this "new direction". However, let's be honest, to be in charge of the company's online identity is frightening! It will be a huge undertaking, but I think I'm more excited than frightened.
One thing that I don't want it to affect is my own personal social media. I barely blog post, I squeeze one YouTube video out a week, I tweet probably the most boring updates. Lol
I just don't want to come home from work unwilling to participate in shaping my online identity because I've been busy shaping the company's.
Oh who am I kidding, I <3 social media!
Random final thought/pet peeve: I wish the radio DJ of the station we are currently listening to at work would stop calling it "twitting" instead of tweeting.

Time flies... when you're having fun?
Well, I was being so good for a while. Alas, I relapsed into not posting again for a while.... However, the point is not all is forgotten, right?? err... maybe that is wrong.... GOSH DARNIT LET'S JUST CONTINUE WITH THE POST.
Forgive me... I'm feeling sappy right now.
So on Tuesday I had my 23rd birthday. I have to admit that while this year I didn't spend the month leading up to it counting down the days like I normally do, I think I enjoyed the day a whole lot more than before.
It was just all around a day where I truly felt appreciated and loved. Not that I generally feel under appreciated, just that my birthday was certainly special.
I knew people were thinking about me. Whether they made me a big meal of my choosing and baked me a cake, or baked me a huge tray of cupcakes and dropped them off at my work, or took me out to lunch, or posted a message on my facebook wall, or remembered that one time I mentioned that I loved this cute little doll and bought it for me, or got me a ticket to see a band that I've been listening to since I was young, or picked out and bought me necklaces that suit me perfectly, or called me and left me a message singing me happy birthday eventhough we haven't talked in many many months.... ok I think you get the point. A lot of cool things happened for my birthday.
One thing that was cool was that a friend of mine who always gets me these funny cards... like the one that said "Haven't you always wanted a card with WIENER on it?" on the front and then on the inside "Me too. WIENER WIENER WIENER. You're Welcome. Happy birthday." Instead of that kind of card she got me one of those cards that you know could only come from Hallmark.
On the front it reads "When I look back over this past year, I can really see how important you are to me. So many times you were there to listen, advise, and encourage. And I can't begin to let you know how much I appreciate that."
INSIDE: "As far as I'm concerned, all you have to do is be yourself and you add so much to my life. Enjoy your day"
Yes, I cried. Maybe not in front of her.... but I cried at home when reading it over again. I love this card.
Well, the big reason for this post is to thank you. Thank you so much for everything the people in and around my life continue to give to me. Through your actions, appreciation, support and caring I am who I am today. And I've got to say: I think you guys helped me turn out alright.

The Chocolate Bar Challenge!
So about one week ago I was in a convienience store with my brother and father and my brother decided he wanted a chocolate bar. Even the mention of this made me want one.
So I went over and thought to myself that I would try something new. I saw this chocolate bar from Cadbury called "Sweet Marie"
So when reading what it was, it was basically the same as an Oh Henry bar.
So I decided to buy both and see which one was better.
I finally got around to it today and here are my conclusions.
I ate some of each and decided that the Oh Henry bar ruled all. However, I knew which one was which and thought that it might influence my opinion.
Luckily, my brother was home and he had two friends over!
So I cut them into 3 pieces each and brought them over on a plate. The only visual difference is that one was flat and one was tall. Otherwise, they looked very similar.
"Tall" was proclaimed by each boy separately.
So, 4 out of 4 people chose the Oh Henry.
Also, reading the nutritional value, with a comparison of 62.5grams from OH and 60grams from SM, Oh henry is better for you than the Sweet Marie!!!
I don't know what you're doing differently Oh Henry, but you're doing it right. haha
So if you're in the corner store and looking at a Sweet Marie or an Oh Henry, I suggest picking up the Oh Henry. Even if it's more expensive.

Music, oh how I love thee
So as some of you know, I got an iPhone. I am in love with said iPhone. No, don't correct me. I meant IN love, not just "I love my iPhone".
With this came the iTunes Store. Yes, while I am fully aware that the iTunes store has been around for years and I had access to it through my other iPods and iTunes on my computer, I had never purchased anything.
Well, I have decided that I don't want to steal music anymore (not that I won't keep my already thieved music) and I will purchase it. Well, it is addicting... because all this good music is right there at your fingertips! I've been searching for just random songs that pop into my head and this was one of them:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3gw0IdaRuo
Back in November, I was taken to the Kelly Clarkson concert in my hometown and he opened for her!
I strongly suggest you check out his music, I bought his CD off iTunes and love the whole thing!!
I thought I'd share that with y'all! Talk to you later!

Posting just to post???
This blog is called "The ramblings of a girl named Nikki". It is time for one of those such rambles and to see what comes out of it.
I find people to be very interesting.
As my mom would gladly tell you, from a very young age I was nosey. My mom said that when I was in the hospital right after being born I would stay up and watch the other babies.... so they had to put a blanket over so I would go to sleep. "Nosey Rosie" is not an unfamiliar term. I find sweet satisfaction in knowledge.
People always told me "Curiousity Killed the Cat" and I'd respond "Yes, but Satisfaction brought him back!"
I love to people watch. I love to see other people's reactions to different situations. Doesn't matter if it is the body language of someone who is standing at the bus stop alone, or someone who is being praised for their accomplishments, I love seeing it. Does this make me weird?? Maybe. However it has also helped me in many things.
I can normally guess how someone's feeling or how they'll react to certain things with pretty good accuracy. It helped when I worked at Wal-Mart because a customer would come up and I'd almost immediately be able to start planning my course of action. If they were just inquisitive, angry, confused...etc.
Anyway, I love to learn things about people. It scratches an itch for me.
THE END! haha
Goodnight!
♥Nik

Resumes
Hello all,
Nikki here... yeah, AGAIN. I'm going to keep this trend up as long as I possibly can.
Ok, so I spent the better part of my day reading resumes and I have come up with a list of things NOT TO DO or just some tips when applying for a job and sending in a resume.
1. If you are going to use a template, MAKE SURE YOU FILL IN ALL THE SPOTS. Or for goodness sake take out the parts you aren't going to use. Like when it says "Name here" put your freaking name there or take OUT the "Name here" text.
2. If you are applying for a specific field (example clerical) don't cloud your resume with random skills like "Can lift 50lbs, and stand on one foot while eating cheeseburgers and singing the national anthem." Ok, so no one wrote that... but you get what I mean. Keep it relevant!
3. When reading a job posting, make sure you read it carefully. Like when it says what format to send your resume in and in the same post it asks for "great computer skills", the person reading resumes WILL NOTICE when they either can't open the document or when it isn't like ALL THE OTHER ONES (or they will just see that instead of ".doc" it is a ".pdf").
4. If you are going to write "I'm intelligent" and then go on to list a number of things. MAKE SURE THAT IT IS ALL SPELLED CORRECTLY! Especially the word RIGHT after 'intelligent'.
5. On the note of spelling, I WILL delete your resume without looking at it if in your e-mail, YOU SPELL YOUR OWN NAME WRONG!
6. When sending in resumes via e-mail, be sure to send it to one company at a time. Believe it or not, the receiver will see that you sent it to 8 other people and probably say what I say "Good luck with the other 8!" I know you aren't just applying at my business, just don't flaunt it in my face.
7. When saving your resume, you have to give it a name. I suggest (in my case it would be) "Nikki's Resume". Because when the receiver is going to open that document they will see the name. If you have written "Lesly's resume - for a pharmacy" and you're applying for a clerical job.... I WILL DELETE IT WITHOUT LOOKING AT IT.
In summary, I would just like to say that attention to detail is SUPER. DE. DOOOPER. Important. Take your time, read it over. Heck, have someone else read it over too!
Ok, that's my rant for the day!!
Talk to you soon!

Creativity....
Hello hello!
I feel like if I continue to update my blog on a regular basis I won't forget about it!
So here is a quick one. I wanted to showcase my talents, yo!
I think it is pretty obvious what I blurred out. I made it for our e-mail signatures at work. I am not going to say that the idea was totally mine (um, because it wasn't).... but I am super proud of it!
Talk to you later!!

Praying and two year olds.
Hello again, let's ignore the fact that this is the second post in the same number of days and jump right in.
As you may or may not know, my sister takes care of her 2 year old goddaughter for her job. She, at least 2 times a week (ok, let's be honest... basically everyday), comes to pick me up from work. With her, is this little girl (aka LittleBit). I love spending time with her because watching her discover new things and new ways to do things is quite the experience. She is so entertaining and adorable.
The other day, just like any other day, my sister came to pick me up from work and my mom and LittleBit were in the car. We were driving back to my parents' house and I was sitting in the backseat beside LittleBit. She folded her hands together, turned to me and said "You do it too Mikki!" So I folded my hands together. "Pray Mikki!"
I was just thrown off by this. I mean, here is this 2 year old girl, asking me to pray! I know it shouldn't have been as much of a big deal as it was in my head. I just thought to myself that I can't believe it has been such a long time since I've prayed and the person to remind me is this 2 year old!
I could make excuses like 'I have much more to think about than a two year old does', 'I don't have as much time on my hands as a two year old does'.
However, we all know both of those excuses are bunk. I mean, I may think about more than she does, but that's because I'm at an age where I use more of my brain. I should still have room for reminders like saying a little prayer. Also, I had that 2 minutes while riding in the car. It's not like it took an hour to do.
Anyway, just thought I'd share that with you!
Bye!
Nikki

I'm back! -ish
Hello hello all!
So yeah, it has been a couple months now. Honestly, not much has changed for me.
I still love music. I still love the colour pink. I still have an amazing family. I still live in the same place, I still like to lay in bed whilst using my laptop (which I am currently doing), I still have the same hair (just more of it, I guess.) I still have the same job. I still have two arms, two legs and the same amount of fingers and toes.
So what is there to blog about??
I feel like my news would be too boring to post for you to read... there is also the reason that I'm pretty sure that 90+% of the people that read my blog are people who already know everything that is going on in my life.
However, here it is for the 1 or 2 of you that aren't updated on my life constantly.
I just recently got an iPhone. Yeah, that's the biggest news in my life. WOOT. haha
No, but seriously, I love this thing. If you had asked me before what my two favourite electronics were I would have told you "My cell phone and my iPod." No word of a lie. NOW I HAVE ONE ELECTRONIC THAT DOES BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTH!!!!!!!
I love it so much and know that I will never be able to use it to its full potential, but I'm certainly going to enjoy every minute of it.
On the work-front. Things are about to get stupid. It is a long story of which I will not post on here because I have decided that when it comes to work, things are too personal to place here in detail (not for me, for others). We have lost someone and we are going to have to re-hire and I'm going to have to re-train. So that's going to be difficult. And stressful. This whole week was stressful. Yesterday I felt physically ill due to the stress. Today I masked the stress with drugs... which, in turn made me drowsy. Ooops.
Anywho... that's the 4-1-1. The what's what. The informations. The NOOZ. Ok, I'm done.
Good night!

Good night!
